Women recaptured after prison escape

TWO women who escaped from jail through a broken window yesterday were recaptured, one after prison staff received a tip-off.

Prison officers discovered where she was staying around six hours after the escape. They picked her up and she was back in the prison around 4.30pm.

The other escapee was caught within minutes of jumping 25 feet from the roof of one of the four blocks in Mountjoy Prison’s Dóchas Centre. She injured her ankle following the jump and was not able to run.
