ALL cars and vans will have to have specially designed fronts to minimise injuries to any pedestrians they hit in the future.

Enterprise ministers yesterday agreed in Brussels that from 2005 vehicles will have to pass two tests showing they cause fewer head and leg injuries to pedestrians.

By 2010 they will have to pass even more stringent tests aimed at further reducing such injuries.
