Last year’s quiz finalists already proving a favourite
CBS Roscommon team, returning a high score, is already emerging as an early favourite in the 2004/2005 TCH quiz.
The school opened the new campaign with a very impressive 130 marks in their win over Scoil Mhuire Strokestown and Abbey Community College, Boyle.
In the second quiz session, debut side Castlerea Community School had a narrow and hard-fought win over another first-time entrant The Mercy Convent Roscommon.
Tramore CBS advanced to round 2 of the TCH All Ireland Schools Quiz last night, with an impressive score of 128 points. The team made up of Matthew Sills, David Hartery, Donncha Conway and captain Ronan Crowley had 14 points to spare over second place St Declan’s Community College, Kilmacthomas at halfway.
Through the second-half they maintained the momentum and finished on 128 points with St Declan’s on 102 and Mount Sion on 74.
Meanwhile, Dungarvan’s St Augustine’s College and Cashel Community School went forward to the next round after two competitive ties in Clonmel.
In Cork, Presentation Brothers, Colaiste an Spioraid Naomh and Colaiste Mhuire Crosshaven all advanced, with convincing wins.
