BUPA and VHI should offer same basic package, urges group

IT’S virtually impossible to tell whether VHI or BUPA offer better value for money — even the Irish Patients Association (IPA) can’t give a definitive answer.

The association has called for a regulated basic package to be offered by both the VHI and BUPA and for the extras to be added on. This would allow consumers decide on which group offered the better value.

Stephen McMahon of the IPA pointed out that BUPA and VHI were arguing in public as to who was cheapest, leaving the consumer none the wiser.
