Teacher abuse file may go to DPP

GARDAÍ will decide within the next few days if they will send a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions following claims by a young boy that he was physically assaulted and verbally abused intermittently over a three-year period by a female teacher.

A senior garda spokesman confirmed that the boy, who is now 12, has made a statement about the alleged mistreatment at a primary school in Co Cork.

It is understood that a second child at the school has corroborated the boy’s statement and it is possible that another pupil will be interviewed.
