Martin launches plan to promote breastfeeding

REASONS why breast is best will be promoted in a campaign that aims to increase breastfeeding levels in Ireland, which are among the lowest in the world.

The campaign, launched yesterday by Health and Children Minister Micheál Martin is also being backed by Olympic silver medallist and mother of two breastfed children, Sonia O’Sullivan.

Mr Martin said breastfeeding offered a critical opportunity to provide the best short and long-term health benefits for babies and their mothers.
