Claim bin, water charges will rise to €1,000

BIN and water charges will reach 1,000 within a few years as a result of a law passed by the Government last night, it was claimed yesterday.

The Protection of the Environment Bill hands over power to city and county managers to decide the level of service charges.

According to Socialist Party TD Joe Higgins, the law will pave the way for increases in bin charges and the reintroduction of water charges.
