BUSINESS and community leaders in Limerick have called a special meeting this morning to discuss the fall-out of last night’s Prime Time special on RTÉ dealing with Limerick crime.

RTÉ went ahead with the making of the programme in the face of protests from the Mayor of Limerick Michael Hourigan and business groups. Gardaí also refused to co-operate with the programme makers.

Last night Mr Hourigan said the city was once again portrayed in an overly negative manner at a time when gardaí had made it clear that the problem of urban violence in Limerick was one which they largely have under control.
