THE son of Finance Minister, Charlie McCreevy escaped a criminal conviction and a fine after he pleaded guilty to a public order offence in the Dublin District Court yesterday.

Charles McCreevy Jnr, aged 25 and single, of Sherlockstown, Sallins, Co Kildare, was given the Probation Act after he admitted guilt to a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place last month.

Several other young men who appeared before the same court yesterday on public order offences were each fined 150.
