Christmas to come early for phone users

CONSUMERS will be able to make their Christmas calls for less this year as two of the biggest phone providers slash their prices ahead of the holiday season.

Eircom has announced price cuts of up to 20% for national calls from December 20, while their main competitors Esat BT are planning further reductions before the end of the year.

The good news yesterday for home and business customers was that 20% will be coming off the price of Eircom customers national evening calls and almost 13% off daytime national calls. The new prices will be 4.92c and 8.17c per minute, respectively, while weekend calls will remain at 1.26c a minute.
