Sellafield leak ‘like something from Homer Simpson’

ENVIRONMENT Minister Dick Roche has criticised management systems at the Sellafield nuclear plant, describing them as “something you’d expect from Homer Simpson”.

He made his comments yesterday after it emerged that highly toxic liquid was escaping from a pipe at the Thorp nuclear reprocessing plant in Cumbria for far longer than first believed.

Management at Sellafield reported a leak last month, but a report issued by British inspectors revealed the pipe was likely to have been leaking for months.
