CHANGES may be made to exam structures and course subjects to bridge the gender gap in exam results, as girls continue to outperform boys in the Leaving Certificate.

The breakdown of this year’s results show girls got more As or Bs on higher level papers in all but six of the 31 subjects examined, compounding analysis of grades in previous year.

Although the difference between the grades of boys and girls gets smaller each year and similar patterns exist in other developed countries, efforts are being made to address the issue.
