ANTI-INCINERATOR campaigners yesterday called for a complete ban on incineration as they marched on the Dáil in protest at the proposed Indaver facility in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

Handing in a letter of protest addressed to Environment Minister Martin Cullen, Health Minister Micheál Martin and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, members of the Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment (CHASE) demanded that planning permission for the Belgian-owned incinerator be withdrawn.

"It's very simple. We want the planning permission reversed. We want the Government to look at their policy of incineration and we want them to introduce a zero waste policy," said Kinsale CHASE member Roma Fulton.
