SALMON netsmen throughout the country descended on the Dáil yesterday to campaign against plans they say will kill off their livelihoods.

The National Salmon Commission (NSC) wants to preserve stocks by reducing the amount of the fish caught in nets off Ireland.

But angry fishermen say the proposals will ruin them while allowing traditional rod-and-line anglers to catch more.
