US troops at Shannon increasing

In February, 11,337 troops passed through the airport on 117 flights, while 7,922 soldiers on 100 flights used Shannon in January, up 43%.

The increase comes as peace activists in Shannon marked the first anniversary of the Iraq war by erecting a five-foot tombstone and a floral wreath at the airport to commemorate those who died in the war.
