‘Firearms offenders should get life’

PEOPLE caught carrying or using firearms should be given life sentences, according to rank and file gardaí.

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) said there can no longer be any "willy-nilly" approaches to tackling the new breed of armed criminals.

"We must now become very forceful as a society," said GRA general secretary PJ Stone.
