Government inaction stalls abuse probe

TWO Government departments have taken half a year to progress a memo proposing an investigation into the way the Dublin archdiocese handled allegations of sexual abuse by clergymen.

The investigation itself was first promised three years ago.

Labour Party justice spokesman Joe Costello criticised the delay last night. “Nothing has happened, effectively,” he said.
