HOSTILITIES between management and unions at An Post intensified yet again yesterday as Communications Workers Union (CWU) members voted overwhelmingly to reject work practice changes sought by the company.

As the 10-month stand-off between both sides continues, the latest development leaves no option but for the Labour Court to intervene in the New Year to try and reconcile the increasingly bitter dispute.

In the meantime, customers will be spared a repeat of last week’s 24-hour stoppage in the frantic seasonal period as the CWU has promised not to take any further industrial action before Christmas.
