Ahern denies backing coalition with SF

FOREIGN Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern yesterday flatly denied he had ever advocated Fianna Fáil sharing Government with Sinn Féin.

Mr Ahern was challenged in the Dáil to clarify his comments in Belfast last week that it would be only “a matter of time” before Sinn Féin entered Government in the South.

“At no stage did I postulate a scenario that Sinn Féin would go into coalition with Fianna Fáil.”
