RELATIVES of deceased patients illegally charged for long-term care could pursue compensation claims in court, the Labour Party warned last night.

Tánaiste Mary Harney yesterday detailed how the Government will repay €1 billion to those affected.

As expected, however, the Government will invoke the statute of limitations, limiting repayments to those still alive, or to the estates of those who died in the six years prior to December 9, 2004.
