Major recommendations on tackling suicide ‘ignored’

EIGHTY recommendations on how to tackle Ireland’s growing suicide problem which were given to the Government seven years ago have been ignored, the president of the Irish Association of Suicidology said yesterday.

Dan Neville, who is also a Fine Gael TD, described the situation as a political scandal.

Mr Neville was speaking as Junior Health Minister Tim O’Malley promised a radical new approach to tackle suicide.
