The 21-year-old woman was rushed to St James’ Hospital following the incident but died a short time after arrival.

Eyewitnesses said the woman was involved in an altercation with another female, during which she suffered some type of seizure and collapsed.

Gardaí said they are not treating the death as suspicious as it is not believed her death was directly linked to the fracas.

There was no weapon involved and she is not believed to have suffered any physical injuries as a result of the fight.

However, gardaí are still investigating the death. The scene was sealed off and technical experts were called in to carry out an examination. Tests will be carried out on the body to check whether drugs played a part in her death.

The altercation was witnessed by dozens of people.

Eyewitnesses said a number of people were involved in the row, which broke out around 11.30am

One witness described how the dead woman had another female on the ground and was hitting her.

“She suddenly starting foaming at the mouth, then just collapsed,” said the witness.
