E570,000 — average price of a house in Dublin 4

HOUSE prices surged by almost 14% last year despite dire warnings that owners would lose as much as 20% off the value of properties.

Dublin 4 tops the price league table, with anyone wanting that particular postcode having to splash out an average of E570,000, according to the Permanent TSB house price index, which is compiled in association with the Economic and Social Research Institute.

D4 houses are more than three times the average price of a house in Donegal, which was the cheapest location to buy a house at E172,408.
