Report calls for injecting rooms for heroin users

INJECTING rooms for heroin users and round-the-clock access to clean needles should be considered by the Government.

A report commissioned by the National Advisory Committee on Drugs (NACD) also calls for needle exchanges in places like Limerick and Galway and special ‘sharp bins’ in public areas for users to dispose of their syringes.

The recommendations are made in a major piece of research into homelessness and drug use, published by the NACD yesterday.
