Avenue of votes in Leitrim

Of all the over elaborate postering jobs done already by candidates across the country, not one seems to match up to James McDaid’s efforts in Co Leitrim.

The population of the country’s least populated county, and those passing through it, are certainly well aware the Junior Transport Minister is the Fianna Fáil European elections candidate in Connaught-Ulster.

The plastering job done in Carrick-on-Shannon, on both sides of the Sligo to Dublin road just on the outskirts of the town, prompted a West of Ireland wag to dub the road: “Avenue de Dr Jim McDaid”.
