Temporary injunction is lifted

On Friday last, the court granted a temporary order to trade union SIPTU stopping the company terminating any jobs as part of its cost-cutting exercise. The company wants to make redundant its Irish crews on its Holyhead-Dublin and Rosslare-Pembroke services and replace them with low-cost workers from Eastern Europe.

President of the High Court Mr Justice Joseph Finnegan was told by a lawyer for the union yesterday the proceedings had been resolved. Mr Richard Keane SC asked that the interim order granted on Friday be vacated and that the entire proceedings be struck out.
