Parties may sue for election costs

SEVERAL parties in the North last night said they may sue the British government in a bid to recoup hundreds of thousands of pounds already spent on election campaigns.

Having prepared party political broadcasts, advertising and election literature, parties claim they should not be out of pocket because of a decision made by Downing Street.

A spokesman for Ian Paisley’s Democratic Unionist Party confirmed the DUP would be looking to recoup substantial costs.
