Gang faces assets seizure for scams on elderly

MEMBERS of a gang accused of preying on elderly people by carrying out shoddy building work and demanding huge fees are likely to face cash demands from the Criminal Assets Bureau.

A near 18-month investigation in to the Killarney-based gang is almost complete and five settled Travellers centrally involved in the scam could also face criminal prosecution.

Six homes in Killarney were raided late last year as part of the investigation, conducted by local gardaí backed up by CAB officers.
