Capital may get extra TD as boundaries redrawn

SPRAWLING growth in Dublin is expected to result in an increase in the number of TDs for the outer suburbs of the capital city and adjoining commuter counties.

Cork appears destined to lose a TD in the next general election after proposed new constituency boundaries are announced today.

The changes to the political landscape resulting from the recommendations by the State advisory panel on the composition of constituencies will have serious implications for sitting Dáil deputies in affected areas.
