Senior garda takes on fresh role

A GARDA with more then 30 years’ experience in the force has been appointed as an Assistant Commissioner.

The appointment of Al McHugh, currently Chief Superintendent in charge of Dublin’s north central division, has been approved by the Justice Minister.

Assistant Commissioner McHugh, a 55-year-old father of four from Co Mayo, has not yet been allocated a posting by the Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy.
