LEGAL representatives for key witnesses at the Morris Tribunal are to take a case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) after the State turned down an appeal to cover costs.

Sources close to the legal team of the McBrearty family believe the court will “lacerate” successive administrations over their alleged failures to protect citizens from State agencies.

They are expected to argue a precedent exists after a ECHR ruling that families of those killed by state agents in the North were entitled to paid legal representation at inquests.
