Garda college awards diplomas in police studies to 430 students

MORE THAN 430 gardaí were awarded diplomas in police studies at a ceremony at the Garda College in Templemore yesterday.

Each received a National Diploma in Police Studies.

The Student of the Year Award, a specially designed medal, parchment and a cheque for €500 went to Garda Neville McCormack. Garda McCormack, from Ballyleague, Co. Roscommon, is stationed at Blackrock, Dublin.

The Gradam Fhoras na Gaeilge Award for the most outstanding student in the Irish language went to Garda Nicola Cleere, from Kilkenny and based at Thurles. She received a certificate, a medal and a week’s scholarship in the Gaeltacht.
