PUBLICANS’ representatives will be forced to defend the role of pub owners in selling alcohol to under-age drinkers this morning.

Vintners to be quizzed on under-age drinking

Vintners chiefs will be asked to set out their views on alcohol promotions that encourage binge drinking, superpubs and the licensing laws at a health watchdog’s hearing.

The leadership of the Vintners Federation of Ireland and the Licensed Vintners Association will be quizzed about the high levels of alcohol consumption by young people at the Oireachtas Health Committee.
