U2’s Sgt Pepper released

THE U2 and Sir Paul McCartney Live 8 performance of ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ has been rushed out on general release.

A recording of the opening number on stage at London’s Hyde Park this afternoon was to go on sale one hour after the performance.

The recording of the Beatles hit performed by U2 lead singer Bono and former Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney was released globally for sale by Universal Music Group as a digital download on more than 200 websites. Proceeds from the sales were to go to Live 8.
