THE IRISH Congress of Trade Unions will let workers vote on the new pay deal without any recommendation because it believes it would be too divisive.

Unions were split down the middle yesterday on the proposed 7% pay rise over the next 18 months as the ICTU executive council met to consider the new partnership deal, “Sustaining Progress.”

ICTU’s executive council decided not to issue any recommendation on how workers should vote because it would be too divisive, Civil and Public Service Union general secretary Blair Horan said.
