Development charges to increase in Waterford

ANYONE planning to build a home or commercial property in Co Waterford can prepare to dig deeper into their pockets as development levies are expected to increase.

As things stand, Waterford County Council is among the 10 cheapest local authorities in the country when it comes to development charges. However, in the coming months, the charges will be reviewed with the intention of revising them upwards.

The council’s director of services Denis McCarthy said the revision of the Development Contribution Scheme would begin “within weeks” and would be comprehensive.
