Apology - Kevin Carty, Assistant Commissioner, An Garda Síochána
The said articles contained references to Assistant Commissioner Kevin Carty which were grossly inaccurate and constituted a gross misrepresentation of the findings of the tribunal.
We unreservedly accept that the Morris Tribunal was not critical of Assistant Commissioner Carty and indeed acknowledged that the inquiry conducted by him had been carried out in a thorough and professional manner.
We accept that the remarks contained in the articles in question were unjustified and unwarranted. We acknowledge that Assistant Commissioner Carty is a garda officer of the highest personal and professional integrity and we unreservedly apologise for the embarrassment, hurt and distress which the articles caused to him and his family.
