Princess Noelle sets off on her dream trip
Noelle O’Regan, aged eight, from Pallaskenry, will fly out to Disneyland Paris with her parents, Ollie and Tilly, for a visit organised by the Share a Dream Foundation.
Nine months ago, Noelle was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and since then has undergone four major operations and chemotherapy in hospitals in Limerick, Cork and Dublin.
Noelle has received many get well cards from her friends in Askeaton national school where she is in first class.
Despite her illness, Noelle never complains and is always smiling, even though she has secretly had one burning ambition: to be a princess for a day.
She wrote to the Share a Dream Foundation asking for help to transform her into a princess, telling them that she had her own shoes if they just help out with the dress.
The dream-makers did a little better than that. Noelle was collected at her home by Rolls Royce and escorted by 14 Harley Davidson motorcyclists. After getting the dress and a complete makeover for both her and her mum, Noelle was whisked off to the Share a Dream Ball in Galway.
More than 600 people at the ball gave Noelle a standing ovation when she arrived escorted by Prince Charming and Cinderella.
Her dad Ollie said: “It is a memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
“And now we will be travelling to Disneyland. Share a Dream is making our daughter very happy indeed, it really is magic.”
Noelle is the youngest of eight children.
Her mum, Tilly, will also travel to Paris today.
“Noelle is very excited and we have been getting ready for the past few days. We come back on Sunday,” said Ollie, who works in Irish Cement in Mungret.
Noelle hopes the fairytale will continue when she visits the Magic Kingdom in Euro Disney.
