Coalition faces crisis over plans to cap land prices for housing

FIANNA FÁIL and the Progressive Democrats seem set on a collision course over the controversial proposal to cap land prices for housing.

Progressive Democrat Junior Minister Tom Parlon has criticised Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Fianna Fáil’s proposal to cap the price of development land to make housing more affordable.

“Property is a civil right and the proposal to cap the price of development land is gift-wrapped in an ideology somewhere left of Stalin,” Mr Parlon said.
