A HIGH-PROFILE drive to encourage adopted people and their natural parents to put personal information on a secure new national register will begin today.

Details of the National Adoption Contact Preference Register, expected to go live in May, will be announced by the Minister for Children, Brian Lenihan.

Organisations involved with both adopted persons and parents have broadly welcomed the launch of the register, though only as a first step in making information available and the contact process easier.
