Brewing giant to sponsor Cork 2005

BREWING giant Heineken Ireland are expected to announce major sponsorship of the Cork 2005 European Capital of Culture programme at a special function which is scheduled for next Tuesday.

It is understood that the company will provide “substantial” funds towards the full programme of events which is scheduled to be published on October 7.

Heineken, which officially took over Murphys Brewery (established in 1856) two years ago, is currently one of the largest employers in Cork with a workforce of more than 425.
