Murdered gang leader’s brother shot at home
A gunman opened fire on Sean Keane at his house in St Mary's Park shortly before 7.30pm last night.
The gunman, believed to have been carrying a handgun, pursued Keane through the house after he answered his front door.
Mr Keane who is in his 40s was hit four times and suffered at least one gunshot wound to his arm and to his side.
He was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where his condition was described as stable.
Gardaí said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s shortly after the incident and he was taken for questioning to Mayorstone Garda Station, where he was being detained last night.
The scene of the shooting was sealed off for forensic examination.
Sean Keane is a brother of Limerick crime boss Kieran Keane, who was shot dead in a gangland-style killing in January 2003.
Another brother, Christy Keane, is serving a 10-year prison sentence for drug dealing.
