Murdered Slovakian man arrived in country last month
Roman Godla, who was discovered fatally injured with head wounds on Sunday night, arrived in Dublin some time in August, detectives believe.
Those leading the investigation into the murder believe he was working in a restaurant in Dublin for a few weeks prior to taking a job on a building site in the city.
The 32-year-old worked just a single day on the site last Saturday before the events that led to his death the following day.
Three people were arrested and questioned at Mountjoy Station as a murder probe was launched following Mr Godla’s death in the Mater Hospital late on Sunday.
All three, two men in their 20s and a woman in her 30s were held for a number of hours before their release. As investigations continue, a file has yet to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Neighbours in Cabra, where Mr Godla was living, did not report any disturbance to the gardaĂ before the body was discovered.
Mr Godla’s body was discovered on the pavement outside the Cabra Park house shortly before 10pm.
He was taken to the Mater where he died some time later.
He suffered severe head injuries and the gardaĂ are still investigating what caused the wounds and whether his attackers used a weapon. No weapon has been found yet.
Detectives are investigating the possibility that the Slovakian died following a row, possibly drink-fuelled, that spilled on to the street.
Gardaà at Mountjoy are also keen to learn details of Mr Godla’s life in Dublin between when he arrived here and his death.
They believe he was working in a restaurant but do not know which one.
Restaurant owners with any information are asked to contact the incident room at Mountjoy Garda Station.
It is believed he only started working on the building site on Saturday.
While Mr Godla only arrived back in Ireland in August, he may have visited before.
Anyone who may have information in relation to this man’s movements on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September are asked the contact Mountjoy incident room on 01-6668666.
