‘Risk assessment’ urged on decentralisation impact

GOVERNMENT departments and agencies should each carry out a risk assessment on the impact of decentralisation before moving public servants out of Dublin, it was argued yesterday.

Fine Gael deputy leader Richard Bruton contended that the secretary general of each department has a legal obligation to carry out the assessment.

He also said that all Government ministers should sign a compliance statement confirming they have ensured that no delivery failures will result in their departments as a result of 10,000 civil servants being relocated out of the capital.
