Lucia shines to win You’re A Star
Phil Coulter told her she couldn’t sing when she auditioned for the very first competition, an illustration of the fact that those in entertainment might know what they’re singing about, but very often don’t know what they are talking about.
The winner has been working part-time in a beauty salon in Galway and she is just about to begin a theatre production course.
“A star is someone who is brave enough to laugh in the face of adversity,” Lucia said, which may have been a reference either to Coulter or the studio panel of judges, which included singer Linda Martin and Sunday newspaper columnist Brendan O’Connor.
On Saturday night the final three acts performed, with Marilyn Bane failing to secure enough votes to make it through to the last round of the competition.
The two final acts - Lucia and The Sullivan Brothers - performed last night.
