Local authorities ‘may be in breach’ of human rights

LOCAL authorities could be sued in the courts under little-known, but powerful, European rights, according to a leading legal expert.

The rights are part of Irish law since the end of 2003 following the incorporation of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR).
