Plan good news for some towns, not all
The plans, deferred before the general election for political reasons, will mean disappointment for some centres which will not be cited as centres earmarked for prime economic developments. But there will be good news for other towns in the regions as the strategy also tries to relieve acute congestion in the greater Dublin area and other large centres by spreading development around the country.
Ministers discussed the so-called Spatial Strategy at a special cabinet meeting on Saturday which also focused on the economy, EU developments, and the flood damage caused on the east coast last week.
