'Immoral' insurance firms under fire after profits soar by 235%

THE insurance industry made profits of €757 million last year, up €531m on the previous year.

Politicians and the business community yesterday called for an immediate cut in premiums to reflect the astonishing increase.

Fine Gael spokesman Phil Hogan said the 235% increase in profit was immoral and must be followed by an immediate premium cut for consumers.
