Ahern lashes out at Labour over fees

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern last night lashed out against the Labour Party and defended Education Minister Noel Dempsey over the third-level fees controversy.

Referring to last week’s furore over Mr Dempsey’s proposal to reintroduce third-level fees Mr Ahern said the real story had been ignored.

The Taoiseach said the important story, and the one which the media was not interested in, was “how so many people elected to office in this country couldn’t give two hells about disadvantaged education”.
