Celebrations at monastic site to commemorate Pope’s visit

CELEBRATIONS to mark Pope John Paul’s visit 25 years ago begin at the ancient Clonmacnoise monastic site tomorrow.

Primate Seán Brady will be principal celebrant at a Mass, which will include a special message from the Holy Father.

“I will never forget that place,” the Pope told pilgrims in St Peter’s Square in his first public audience speech on returning home, recalling his experience at Clonmacnoise.
